DataScrubber FAQ
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions
concerning HDD sanitation using the SCSI Toolbox DataScrubber.
Q: Why can’t I just use the format command
to sanitize my HDDs?
A: Read the DataScrubber-Why.doc located here:
http://www.scsitoolbox.com/docs/DataScrubber-Why.doc
Q: Can I use the SCSI DataScrubber on a UNIX drive?
A: Yes, you can use the DataScrubber on any drive.
Q. I have drives in UNIX, Windows, and some old
DOS drives that I’d like to clean what version of the DataScrubber
should I purchase?
A. We recommend purchasing the Windows version
and attach the drives to a standard SCSI or Fibre Channel Host Bus
adapter.
Q. If my system is configured in a RAID can I use
the SCSI DataScrubber.
A. The Datascrubber requires a standard (non-RAID)
Host Bus Adapter. If your RAID is and external RAID controller you
may be able to set it up into JBOD mode, otherwise you will have
to connect the physical drives directly to the SCSI or Fibre Channel
HBA.
